Housing

Everyone should have a place to call home.

We advocate for community-involved urban planning.

Tacoma Urban League works to elevate and support affordable housing, green spaces, clean air, transportation choices, and more. We also equip people — from the time they begin planning for homeownership through the time they are living in their own home — with the information, relationships, and tools to be successful.

Together, our housing programs aim to:

  • Increase Black homeownership in the Tacoma-Pierce-County area.

  • Expand investment in and development of safe spaces for Black and Brown communities in Tacoma.

  • Support community-led policy solutions that create more affordable housing stock and urban development improvements.

Pathways to Homeownership

The Pathways to Homeownership program aims to raise Black homeownership rates within the Tacoma/Pierce County region and expand opportunities for families to build a legacy of generational wealth through homeownership. We strive to empower the community by increasing access to homebuyer education, support, resources, and a network of dedicated professionals. We provide monthly one-on-one housing counseling, financial counseling, and financial education to support you in achieving and maintaining homeownership.
