The Tacoma Urban League helps build family well-being by intentionally and simultaneously working with children and the adults in their lives together to ensure that children grow-up in a safe, stable home with the resources they need to thrive. 

The Black Empowerment Center focuses on the financial bottom line for low-to-moderate income African American Families and helping people in a way that encourages a long-term commitment to increasing income, decreasing expenses, building credit and acquiring assets. Monthly reoccurring classes provide Urban League members the opportunity to work with industry leaders and professionals on their goals.

 This is a time to be intentional about strengthening Black businesses and other institutions, and it’s a simple thing anyone can do. Supporting Black businesses also means supporting Black communities, as they are usually more than just places that offer goods and services. They are community spaces for meeting and connection. They are cultural hubs and platforms for local artists. They provide programs and resources that the community needs. Especially given these multifunctional roles, strengthening Black businesses helps strengthen our communities, and now Tacoma Urban League is making finding these businesses easier than ever.

The Tacoma Urban League has a strong collection of volunteer auxiliary programs that leverages our organizational resources and relationships to strengthen community-led members efforts to tackle issues related to education, health, and economic stability.  Considered the heart and soul of the Urban League movement is its committed members. Often our members volunteer in impactful auxiliary programs that are either community-initiated or owned to make a difference in the lives of others, learn new skills, and develop relationships.
